MD 6th District Candidate Financial Reports

George Wenschhof

With less than three weeks remaining to Election Day, the Dougherty campaign reported only 27,987 cash on hand compared to incumbent Republican Roscoe Bartlett with 374,142 cash on hand. Libertarian candidate, Gary Hoover did not report any financial activity for the report period.

The financial reports by the campaigns covered the period from January 1, 2008 to September 30, 2008. Congressman Bartlett had raised $270,497 during that period and had spent $98,328. Adding carry over funds, the campaign reported having $374,142 cash on hand.

Democratic challenger Jennifer Dougherty's campaign finance report showed a total of $117,584 raised and expenditures of $89,623. This left the campaign with $27,987 cash on hand.

If you only look at funds raised this calendar year, the Bartlett campaign out raised Dougherty by more than a 2-1 margin. Both campaigns have spent a similar amount this year.

The Federal Election Commission has the reports available online if you wish to view. Click here, click on House and Senate Elections, click on Maryland and then the candidate name.

This Maryland 6th district congressional seat has been held by Republican Roscoe Bartlett for 16 years following the upset defeat of seven term incumbent Democratic Congresswoman Beverly Byron by Thomas Hattery in the 1992 primary election.
