Expect a lot of the talk this morning to be on the recent ads being run by the McCain campaign. One ad was the Republican version of "all hat and no cattle" with cameo shots of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. Then it was the Obama response of "is this the best you can do"?, "they are going to try to make you afraid of me", and I don't look like all the other Presidents on dollar bills. Who is playing the race card and is it being played will also be discussed along the latest McCain campaign ad "The Chosen" almost depicting Obama as the Mesiah.
What the Republicans have managed to do is throw the Obama campaign off the smooth and fast rolling track they were on. Essentially, they are using the same arguments put forward by the Hillary Clinton campaign in the Democratic primary, but presenting them much better than her campaign.
Also expect more VP speculation and maybe we will hear some discussion on the issues.
NBC "Meet the Press" - Tom Brokaw should have fun with Senators John Kerry (Mass.) and Joementum Lieberman (Conn.) Can you guess who each Senator is supporting for President?
CBS "Face the Nation" - Discussion will focus on the economy, the number one concern of voters. Robert Rubin, the former Treasury Secretary under Clinton will discuss Obama's plans. Earlier this week, Obama met with Rubin and other economic advisers to discuss what is needed to turn the economy around. Carly Fiorina, CEO of Hewlett Packard will discuss McCain's proposal for the economy.
ABC " This Week" - George Stephanopolous will have House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Expect her to be asked a full range of questions including why she is holding up a vote to allow off-shore oil drilling.
CNN "Late Edition" - Senator Claire McCaskill (Mo.) will appear - Obama was in Missouri earlier this week with the Senator at a Barbecue. Also Rep. Rob Portman (Ohio), a McCain support will appear. Wolf Blitzer will also discuss Iraq and Israel.
FOX News Sunday - has former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle and Senator Lindsey Graham (S.C.)
