After reading two polls (Zogby and Rasmussen) earlier today, it seemed McCain had successfully cut into Obama's lead and had tied or taken a small lead himself. Now AP-Ipsos has a new national poll showing Obama with a six point lead over McCain, 47-41. Read more here. Polls are fun to follow, but with thirteen weeks to go, a lot of changes will occur between now and Election Day.
Much speculation surrounds Obama's trip to Elkhart, Indiana tomorrow where he will be joined by Indiana Senator Evan Bayh. The Internet buzz has Obama announcing Bayh as his running mate tomorrow. Don't count on it. It appears more likely Obama will announce his running mate after he returns from a much needed vacation in Hawaii. That would make it about a week prior to the kickoff of the Democratic National Convention. Read more here.
The Commission on Presidential Debates releases the dates, locations and the names of the moderaters of the Debates this fall. Gwen Ifill will moderate the VP Debate on October 2. The three Presidential Debates will be September 26 with Jim Lehrer, October 7 with Tom Brokaw, and October 15 with Bob Schieffer. MSNBC FirstRead.com has more details here.
