After a roller coaster week on wall street lead to more bail outs by the Federal Reserve, expect most of the discussion to be centered on the economy.
The current national debt is 9.7 Trillion before the recent bail outs and Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson says his proposed plan to shore up the markets could cost another 1 Trillion. This on top of the 450 Billion annual budget deficit the Republican Bush administration will leave to the next administration to straighten out. The printing of more money and higher debt will also lead to a devaluation of the dollar and inflation. What a mess!
One thing that has been clear is that in a time of crisis, in both international and domestic affairs, Senator Obama has taken a measured approach and appeared much more presidential and under control than Senator McCain. In both instances of the republic of Georgia-Russia conflict and the current economic morass, McCain has shown a quick rush to judgement with a lot of bluster and no substance, hardly traits the American voter wants in their President.
NBC "Meet the Press" - Tom Brokaw will interview New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. There was early speculation in this election year he would run for President as a Independent. Also a roundtable discussion with Steve Pearlstein, Steve Liesman, Erin Burnett, and John Harwood.
ABC "This Week" - the guests will be Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, Senator Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) who is chair of the Senate Banking Committee, and Representative John Boehner (R-Oh).
The roundtable will include George Will, Cokie Roberts, Sam Donaldson, and Donna Brazile.
