Governor Sarah Palin to be interviewed by ABC - Charles Gibson is the chosen one to conduct the interview. Early reports say the interview will be broadcast on ABC "World News Tonight" Thursday and Friday from Alaska. Politico.com has more here.

USAToday/Gallup Poll has it McCain 50% and Obama 46% - the poll was conducted from September 5-7 so it covers three full days following the close of the Republican convention. Former President Bill Clinton invites Obama to Lunch - hearing that Obama would be in New York Thursday on the anniversary of 9/11, Clinton called Obama and invited him to lunch. I would say this is a good time for Obama to listen to what Clinton has to say as he has dropped 10-12 points in the polls since the start of the Republican convention.

Government bails out Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae - this was an expected move. The NY Times has a good read here on what led up to this action. It is estimated these mortgage giants secure up to 5.3 Trillion in debt.

Congress resumes - Senator Kennedy issues statement he will return in January - he is still receiving treatments following his surgery to remove a cancerous brain tumor. CNN.com has more here.
Congress will need to pass a spending bill to keep government offices open. Democratic leaders have indicated they will scrap another attempt to pass S-CHIP after two vetoes by President Bush. A comprehensive energy bill and economic stimulus bill will be debated. Expect off-shore drilling to be passed in a combination bill that includes incentives for development of alternative energy.

U.S. Drones fire missiles in Pakistan killing 16 - this is the second report in a week of U.S. incursion on Pakistan soil. This attack was targeted against suspected Taliban targets near the border of Afghanistan. Reuters.com has more here. Keep an eye on this situation as Asif Ali Zadarari has just been elected new President of Pakistan and the people do not want U.S. intervention in their country.
