Dem Campaign Chatter 9-13-2008

George Wenschhof

--------------------

Today, Obama is in Manchester, New Hampshire - he will be joined by Biden and they will attend a rally together in the morning. New Hampshire and it's 4 electoral votes is a swing state that is currently polling Democratic by a few percentage points.

--------------------

Biden provides 10 years of tax returns - they show an average of $250,000 annual income for him and his wife Jill which is at the bottom end of the Senators serving today. Let's see what Governor Palin and her husband show on their tax returns. CNN.com has more here.

--------------------

Hurricane Ike causing major power outages - as the hurricane hit Texas, it has left over 2 million without power. It is now a category one storm. Another major concern is the possibility of damage to oil refineries. Reportedly, one-fifth of the oil refineries in the U.S. are in the path of this storm. The U.S economy would suffer another huge blow if these refineries suffered damage. Reuters.com has more here.

--------------------

More Distortions from McCain campaign in new ad - in an ad designed to evoke emotion from voters on the volatile issue of Immigration. CNN.com has more here. Claims are made that Obama stood in the way of reform when in fact both McCain and Obama voted the same in regard the the immigration reform bill which failed. The ad is broadcast in Spanish and will be played in Colorado, New Mexico, and Nevada - all states with a high percentage of Hispanic voters. Watch the ad here.

Obama cancels SNL appearance tonight - he issued a statement saying he felt it was inappropriate at a time when hurricane Ike was hitting Texas. swamppolitics.com has more here. I'm still hoping for a surprise visit by Tina Fey portraying Governor Sarah Palin.
