Campaign Chatter

Today, Obama will be in D.C. - He will address the League of United Latin American Citizens. It is their 79th annual convention and he is expected to speak around 4:30 PM ET. McCain is expected to also attend and speak around noon. Here is a good read in McClatchydc.com today. In the morning, Obama will be in Powder Springs, Georgia in a town hall setting.

As if I needed a reason not to watch Fox News - Howard Wolfson, a top Clinton campaign adviser joins the network. He joins fellow Clintonista Lanny Davis who also just signed a deal with Fox. It was doubtful either would have been offered any role of significance with the Obama campaign. Remember, it was Lanny Davis who started the petition to have Hillary as Obama's VP and I believe a website was even started to promote her being chosen. Read more here.

Energy gridlock in the House - Speaker Nancy Pelosi says committee work will continue this week on energy legislation. That's because the votes are not there to pass legislation to deal with oil market speculators and to pass legislation containing a use it or lose it provision pertaining to federally leased land for oil drilling. The reason - Republicans will offer up legislation to allow more oil drilling. All the more reason for a change in the WH - we need a clearly defined national energy program with national consensus for implementation. Read more here.

On the Iraq war front - Iraq Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki says he would like a timetable for US troop withdrawal. Not exactly what the Bush administration has been pushing. Read more here.
