Obama Expected To Win Mississippi Today

Today is The Mississippi primary where 33 delegates are at stake. The state also has 7 superdelegates. InsiderAdvantage poll as of 3-9 showed Senator Obama with a 17 point lead 54-37 over Senator Clinton.

This state has an open primary so Republicans and Independents can vote for Democratic candidates. It is expected that if this occurs, Clinton would benefit. The only positive spin that Clinton could achieve today is if she finished within 10 points of Obama. Otherwise, her campaign is focused on the next primary in Pa., 6 weeks from now on April 22nd.

Obama presently has a lead in the total delegates 1589 to 1470 for Clinton. If the vote is split 60-40 in favor of Obama today, he would pick up a plus 7 delegates over Clinton. We will report on the results later today.
