This Sunday morning will be fun to watch and listen to the pundits as this is the first Sunday after the overwhelming victory by Barack Obama. The Democrats also had significant gains in Congress with at least 19+ seats in the House and 6+ seats in the Senate, adding to the majority they already held.
The composition of the Obama-Biden transition team is likely to be discussed as well as the announced appointments and the speculated appointments. Representative Rahm Emanuel (Ill.) will receive a lot of attention, as he should for being named the incoming Chief of Staff. Did you ever notice the actor Al Pacino looks a little like him?
Also David Axelrod, who will be a senior adviser to President-elect Obama and Robert Gibbs, who will be White House Press Secretary, will receive attention. There is also the possibility, the Treasury Secretary will be announced prior to the Sunday talk shows as Obama will want to put his stamp on his approach to dealing with our troubled economy. Rolling the individual out prior to the pundits on Sunday morning would increase the exposure.
Also expect speculation on other cabinet position appointments and some discussion on Obama's first press conference he held on Friday. Perhaps a little more on "Wailing Palin" as she complains about her treatment by the press.
Here is the lineup:
NBC "Meet The Press" - Valerie Jarrett - co-chair Transition Team, Senator Mel Martinez (R-Fl.), and Representative James Clyburn (D-SC). The roundtable will include Doris Kearns Goodwin, Jon Meacham, Mary Mitchell.
ABC "This Week" - George Stepanopoulos interviews Rahm Emanuel, incoming White House Chief of Staff. The roundtable will include Fareed Zakaria, David Gergen, George Will, and Cynthia Tucker.
CBS "Face The Nation" - Sure enough, Bob Schieffer also will interview Rahm Emanuel. Also appearing will be John Harris of politico.com and David Brooks of the NY Times.
Fox News Sunday - Chris Wallace will interview John Podesta, co-chair of the Transition Team. He will also have two Republican Representatives; Mike Pence (In.) and Eric Cantor(Va.). Both of their states; Indiana and Virginia voted for Obama and Democratic for the first time since 1964.
CNN "Late Edition" - Transition Team co-chair John Podesta appears again, this time to be interviewed by Wolf Blitzer. Also appearing will be California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger(R) and Senate majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.).
