As of 2:00 PM ET, the overall voter turnout in Frederick County was only about 11-12% according to Elections Director Stuart Harvey. A disappointing number with six hours left before the polls close. I had predicted between 25-32% and it looks as though it will be closer to the 25%.
In a couple of sample polling locations, in Spring Ridge, which is part of district 3-a, 161 Republicans had voted to 100 Democrats. At Urbana Elementary, which is part of district 3-b, 143 Republicans had voted and 105 Democrats.
Polls close at 8:00 PM ET. Elections results will be available at the Frederick County Board of elections website.
The first numbers to be reported will be from those who cast ballots during the early voting period. These votes numbered 1611. 784 were Republican, 761 were Democrats and 63 were Unaffiliated. For more detail on the early vote, click here.
