Israel-Palestine Peace Talks begin today - hope springs anew as the latest attempt at lasting peace in the region begins today in direct talks between Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. The NY Times has more here.

The talks will be hosted by the U.S. State Department. The ownership of all/parts of Jerusalem, border security and West Bank settlements will all be on the table for discussion. Leading to what the U.S. has dubbed a two state solution.

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has offered to host the next round of negotiations. U.S. Middle East Envoy George Mitchell who brokered the start of the talks is hopeful direct talks between the leaders talks place frequently and as often as every two weeks. Mitchell is hopeful for a settlement to be reached, but is realistic in expecting the talks to take as long as a year to reach agreement. CNN.com has more here.

Boxer - Fiorina Debate in California U.S. senate race -
Billionaire Carly Fiorina attacked boxer for the sad state of the economy during the one hour debate held at St. Marys college in San Francisco.

Fiorina, who is spending millions of her own money on this campaign was painted as one who will work for the wealthy by Senator Boxer who said she will continue to fight for the people. MSNBC.com has more here.

Jim Traficant on ballot in Ohio -
anything is possible in politics as the former congressman who served time in a federal prison for corruption, is now on the ballot as a Independent. he will be running for Congress in the 17th district. He won placement on the ballot by having just barely enough signatures (11 more than was needed) in a petition certified by the state board of elections. You can read more here.
