Today, President Barack Obama will award Medals of Freedom to recipients at the White House - a total of sixteen are expected to be awarded and the recipients include Sidney Poitier, Billie Jean King and Senator Edward Kennedy. Time.com has more here.

New Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor will also be at the White House this morning for a ceremony hosted by the President.

Yesterday, President Obama did an outstanding job debunking the myths put out by the right wing nuts on health care reform - during a town hall meeting in Portsmouth, N.H., the president explained away all the ridiculous myths put forward by misinformed Republicans. He called it as it is, the Republicans are creating bogeymen to scare Americans. MSNBC.com has more here.

Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell (D) calls "birthers" "absolutely nuts" - he also says these wackos are the same ones who are behind the unruly and destructive town hall meetings on health care reform. The "birthers" are those who believe President Obama was not born in the United States. Politico.com has more here. A further reflection of the sad state of the leaderless Republican party.
