Unofficial City of Frederick, Md. Election Results

George Wenschhof

9:08 PM - news from the Dougherty Campaign is she is headed to City Hall to congratulate Jason Judd as the winner of the Democratic mayoral race. Unofficial numbers and partial precinct returns were showing Judd with 1,406 and Dougherty with 774 votes. With such low voter turnout, it will not be possible for Dougherty to overcome the difference.

As additional information and numbers are received, I will add to this post.

75% of the precincts reporting - Democratic Mayoral: Judd - 958, Dougherty - 531, Simpson -121
Republican Mayor: McClement - 698, tobin - 201, Hoffman - 73

Democratic Alderman - Young - 897, Kuzemchak - 893, Krimm - 794, O'Connor - 778, Russell - 732, Bokee - 694, Koontz - 626

Republican Alderman - Smith - 681, Imhoff - 580, Huckenpoehler - 473, Haddaway - 468, Aloi - 467

The only incumbent who is in danger of not moving on to the general election is Democrat David "Kip" Koontz.

Michael O'Connor - 1319
Kelly Russell - 1299

Bill Ashton - 427
George Bauer IV - 331
Robert Cassidy - 309
Joe Cohen - 383
Senitta Conyers - 361
Amanda Haddaway - 677
William Hockenpoehler - 633
Alan Imhoff - 882
John Shupe - 236
Paul Smith - 1006

The field is now set for the General Election on November 3. There were a total of 150 absentee ballots received as of this morning and they are not enough to alter the results.

It will be Democrat Jason Judd who will face Republican Randy McClement for Mayor. While I did not support Mr. Judd in the Democratic primary, I let him know at the Democratic Alderman Forum, he would have my 100% support if he won the primary and he has it.

Voters will choose five Aldermen in the General Election. The Democrats are Carol Krimm, Donna Kuzemchak, Michael O'Connor, Kelly Russell and Karen Young. The Republicans are Paul Smith, Alan Imhoff, Shelley Aloi, Amanda Haddaway, and William Huckenpoehler.

The Democratic candidates are very strong and with a united front, look to see Jason Judd elected as the next mayor of the City of Frederick. It is also realistic four or five Democrats will be elected as Alderman.

The primary campaign was civil - the voter turnout abysmal - 17%. How many times do I have to say it is time to change the city election date to coincide with the presidential election cycle. When I interviewed Jason Judd he promised he would support moving the election cycle to coincide with the presidential election year. Jason, I am going to hold you to this.

Congratulations to all of the winners and a big thank you to all of the candidates who ran for office. For those who did not make it to the general election, I hope you stay involved. It is not easy to put yourself out there and run for elective office. I appreciate the efforts of all of the candidates.
