2 Million Remain Without Power in Mid-Atantic - Frederick County, Maryland, my home county, had three thousand without power after the wild storms hit Friday.  Electric companies are saying it could be this weekend before all electricty is restored, comparing the devastation brought by Hurrican Irene.  Meanwhile, the excessive heat is expected to remain through the week. Nieto Elected President of Mexico - Pena Nieto has won the election according to reports and his party; the Institutional Revolutionat Party has returned to power after 12 years.  The Washington Post has more here.

His promises to bring tansparency, democracy, peace and prosperity to a country beset with drug wars and poverty, resonated with the voters.

Long Term Jobless Benefits Set To Expire the end of the year - 2.7 million will lose benefits if action is not taken by Congress by the end of the year.  It is unlikely Congress will act prior to the November 6 election.  TheHill.com has more here.
