Representative Gabrielle Gifford's Condition Updated to Serious -
from critical after a breathing tube was inserted and she was removed from a ventilator. Recovery from being shot in the head is likely to be long as only ten per cent who have been shot in the head live. Doctors expect to know better in regard to her ability to speak within the next several days. The Washington Post has more here.

An interview with her husband by Diane Sawyer, astronaut Mark Kelley will air Tuesday on ABC "20-20" tomorrow night.

The trial of Jared Loughner will be moved to San Diego, California.

New civility in Washington? -
in the wake of the shootings in Tucson, lawmakers return to work this week. Senators Tom Coburn (R-Ok.) and Charles Schumer (D-NY) are planning to sit together for the state of the union address and House speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) is now referring to the health care bill as the job destroying bill as opposed to the job killing bill as he prepares the repeal vote scheduled for Wednesday.
