Michelle Excels First Night of Democratic Convention

A great first night at the Democratic Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina.  The video tributes to the late Senator Edward Kennedy and former President Jimmy Carter were moving.  The piece on Ted Kennedy reminded viewers of his long struggle to secure health care for all, his support for Barrack Obama in 2008 and his uplifting and emotional appearance at the 2008 Democratic Convention, after unsuccessful surgery to remove a malignant brain tumor.

NARAL President Nancy Keenan, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and Lily Ledbetter, with her tough georgian accent kept the spotlight on the damage a Romney-Ryan White House would do to women's rights.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley and San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro kept the entusiasm level high and the focus on four more years, prior to First Lady Michelle Obama's turn at the podium.

She did not disappoint, electrifying the audience and the millions watching at home.

Former President Bill Clinton is up next in prime time tomorrow.

Unlike Mitt Romney, who received no bounce in the polls following the Republican Convention, look to see President Obama receive a bounce after the convention ends on Thursday.

Then, it is on to the one on one debates.

O'Malley Clarifies Statement on "Face The Nation" - yesterday, the Maryland Democratic Governor said said "no" to the question of whether the United States is better off than it was four years ago. "No, but that's not the question of the elction," O'Malley told CBS' Bob Schieifer.

Today he said, "Here's the reality of our situation as a country," O'Malley told CNN's Soledad O'Brien. "We are clearly better off as a country because we're creating jobs rather than losing them."
