Yesterday, President Obama blasts the Republican Party as being the "Party of No" -
in his speech at Carnegie Mullen University. The president detailed their opposition to health care, the stimulus bill and the Financial reform bill. He went on to say that while the votes were not there now for the Climate/Energy bill, he was going to work to get them over the next few months. TheHill.com has more here.

White House Job Offer to Romanoff results in questions -
In the Colorado U.S. Senate race, there is no secret President Obama endorsed Michael Bennet. Now comes revelations that his Democratic opponent Andrew Romanoff had been offered jobs from White House Deputy Chief of Staff Jim Messina. Presumably, with the intent to provide clearer sailing for Bennet in the primary.

This follows news of the White House committee member offer to Representative Joe Sestak from former President Bill Clinton to induce Sestak not to run against Senator Arlen Specter in the Pennsylvania Democratic primary.

Time.com has the statements from the White House here and from Romanoff here.

These actions are typical politics, but with former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich's trial beginning today more attention will be played to these two actions from the Obama administration. The other obvious somewhat dubious distinction to the Obama administration is how bad they were at playing politics as usual; failing to get either candidate to drop out and facing press inquiries into their actions.

The white House released their statement on the Sestak offer the Friday of memorial day weekend with hopes the story would receive little attention and then be buried. The Romanoff job offer revelations promise to keep the story on page one and result in more Republican leaders calling for investigation of these incidents.

Israel Raid on Gaza humanitarian flotilla highlights Israeli-Palestinian rift - The New York Times has more here. Israel rightfully feels it must defend itself against possible militants and weapons being smuggled into Gaza. While, in Gaza, over a year after the latest Israeli incursion, many continue to live in tents, This gives rise to Hamas, who try to provide aid to the impoverished.

Instead of this continued type of uncivil action, why not establish a UN operated inspection of Ships bound to Gaza with humanitarian materials. This could be operated for the benefit of all parties.
