Sunday Morning "Talking Heads" Cheat Sheet

It promises to be a lively discussion on Sunday morning with debate on the "fiscal cliff" leading the way.  President Obama, in his weekly address, urged Congress to vote to extend the middle class tax cuts which would allow them to keep, on the average, $2,000 per year.

This would avert a major impact on the economy come January 1, when the tax cuts expire, and allow more time for serious discussion on a long term plan to reduce the deficit.

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, who presented the initial White House proposal on the budget deficit to members in Congress this week will be on all of the major morning political talk shows.

In addition, sure to come up will be the ongoing attempt by some Republican lawmakers to highlight the tragedy in Benghazi and derail the nomination of U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice for Secretary of State.

Theories abound with the Republican fixation on Susan Rice, including thier desire to have Massachusetts Senator John Kerry nominated so they can run recently defeated Scott Brown for his vacant seat.

Discussion should take place on the Middle East with the recent overwhelming vote by the U.N. to accept Palestine as a non-member state.  This action along with the Gaza Strip clash between Palestine and Israel, the moves by new Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi to claim more powers and change the constitution has heightened tension in the area, already beset with a civil war in Syria and Iran's refusal to allow U.N. inspectors to verify their nuclear program.
