George - How do you feel about the 2011 Congressional redistricting of District 6? Changing this seat from representing Maryland's rural citizens, to a district dominated by Montgomery county. Who will represent Garrett, Allegany, Washington and Frederick counties now that Montgomery county has sway on our district?

Thank you Tommy for your question.
I will be voting against the redistricting Question 5 on the Maryland ballot.
I wrote a column on the 6th district redistricting published in The Baltimore Sun on April 2, 2012.
You can read it here: http://articles.baltimoresun.com/2012-04-02/news/bs-ed-redistricting-20120402_1_voter-registration-state-senate-seats-western-maryland-democrats
In this column, I wrote "To ensure a more reasonable and balanced redistricting process across the country, it would be sensible for Maryland and the rest of the states to adopt the policy used by the handful of states that use an independent or bipartisan committee.
This process, if adopted by all states, would aid in reducing the acrimony and gridlock prevalent in Congress today. Perhaps, representatives would then be elected who would work together to move America forward."
