Senate Majority leader Harry Reid promises to move Immigration legislation forward this year -
this will no doubt be another tough battle as was health care reform, but it is very much needed in America. The NY Times has more here.

Reid spoke to a crowd of about 6,000 yesterday at a rally in Las Vegas. Addressing the pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants, strengthening our borders, instant verification of social security numbers and cracking down on employers who hire undocumented workers all needs to be addressed at the federal level.

While bipartisanship has hit what is arguably an all time low, Senators Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Charles Schumer (D-NY) do have a proposal they have shared with President Obama and hope to introduce to Congress.

Mitt Romney wins SRLC straw poll -
funny, as he did not even attend the three day conference held in New Orleans. He essentially tied at 24% with Ron Paul, a delight of libertarians, but hardly a serious 2012 presidential candidate. Romney beat Paul by one vote 439-438. Out of the nine presidential hopeful candidates on the Southern Republican Leadership Conference ballot, Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich tied at 18%. You can read more on the results here.

These polls mean relatively little at this point, 21/2 years from the 1012 election, but they do show the Republicans have a leadership problem. While Sarah Palin may be the darling of tea party activists, polls continue to show a majority of Republicans do not feel she is capable of being president. While Romney would seem to have the business background to be taken seriously due to the poor economy, he would not be able to counter President Obama on health care reform as it mirrors what was done by when Romney was Governor of Massachusetts.

Stay Tuned...
