Daily Democratic Wire 3-6-2010

George Wenschhof

Only Political Scandals are bipartisan today -
Some Republican and Democratic leaders try to point out the scum on the other side while refusing to look inward. However, sometimes the spin by one political party does impact elections. Will NY Governor Eliot Spitzer (D), Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich (D) and the recent resignation of Representative Eric Massa (D-NY) have the same effect on the 2010 elections that the indictment of House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R), the scandals surrounding Jack Abramoff and Representative Tom Foley (R) had in the 2006 elections? Joan Walsh of has a good read here and you can watch her on MSNBC Chris Matthews "Hardball" from last night below.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius will appear on NBC "Meet the Press" and ABC "This Week" - the passage of health care reform is sure to be the subject. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell will join her on "This Week". Senators Evan Bayh (D-Ind.) and Lindsay Graham (R-S.C.) will be on CBS "Face The Nation" and Maryland Representative Chris Van Hollen will be on CNN "State of The Union". Van Hollen is chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee so expect him to be grilled on how he feels the House Democrats will fare in the mid term elections. has a complete rundown on the Sunday morning "Talking Heads" here.

Is the trial of Khalid Sheik Mohammed moving to a military tribunal? -

The trial of one of the alleged planners of 9/11 and other terrorists continue to cause debate. What is rarely mentioned is that over 300 terrorists were tried under civilian courts during the George W. Bush administration and are currently in American prisons. has more here.
