George Wenschhof Bio

Today, President Barack Obama is in Turkey - the last stop of his hugely successful overseas trip. His schedule today includes meetings with President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey and a speech to their Parliament. The Washington Post has more here.

His speech to the Parliament included support for their entry in the EU and a statement that the U.S. is not at war with Islam. ThePage.Time.com has the full speech here.

The UN continues discussions on North Korea sanctions - the 15 member security council includes China and Russia who have blocked any condemnation statement. They do not feel attempting to launch a satellite warrants any sanctions. While President Obama refers to a 2006 UN resolution banning North Korea from any ballistic missile tests. The Washington Post has more here.

Back on the home front, new GM CEO Fritz Henderson says Bankruptcy still an option - yesterday on "Meet The Press" he also said he received a 1.3 million salary. Politico.com has more here. The questions becomes if restructuring through bankruptcy is what GM opts to do, why did the U.S. Treasury give them billions?

Today, major league baseball gets kicked off in a big way as home openers abound across the country - my team, the Baltimore Orioles start at 4:00 PM ET and will face the dreaded New York Yankees. While optimism is high at this point for all the teams, the Orioles will be facing another rebuilding season with the goal of finishing .500 a realistic one. Vice President Joe Biden will throw out the first pitch today, weather permitting. My prediction: the Orioles win today.
