Today, President Barack Obama hosts a jobs summit at the White House -
he will meet with business leaders to discuss ways to create jobs as unemployment has now reached 10.2%. Tomorrow, he will begin a "White House to Main street" tour by visiting Allentown, Pennsylvania. You can read more here.

Tonight, the First Family will attend the national tree lighting ceremony at The Ellipse.

Congress meanwhile is preparing it's own 300 Billion jobs bill -
extension of unemployment benefits, small business loans, state fiscal aid, along with funds for highway and transit. TheHill.com has more here.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) wants health care bill approved prior to Christmas -
public option and anti-abortion language continue to be difficult negotiations in the Senate. Politico.com has more here.

Climate control summit to begin Monday in Copenhagen -
already the United Nations climate chief; Yvo de Boer is saying the industrialized nations are not offering enough reduction in emissions. President Obama has indicated that with approval of Congress, the U.S. would reduce emissions 17% by 2020. McClatchydc.com has more here.

MD Governor Martin O'Malley to Hold Online Town Hall Meeting

On Wednesday December 9, beginning at 8:00 PM ET, Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley will hold an online town hall meeting from Randallstown.

He will be answering questions submitted from you. In additional, five people who submit questions by Friday December 4Th at 4:00 PM ET will be chosen to attend the filming and ask their questions in person. So, go to
http://www.martinomalley.com/page/content/onlinetownhall/ and submit your question for the Governor.

This first online town hall meeting will focus on jobs and job creation, but any subject is fine for you to submit a question.


Yesterday, the Democratic Governor's Association elected Delaware Governor Jack Markell chair and Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley will continue as vice-chair. It was reported O'Malley indicated he was supportive of the Stimulus bill put forth by the Obama administration, but felt there was a need for larger job creating projects in the area of bridge, tunnel, and road construction.
