Clintons will dominate the Sunday shows as more mid term election discussion takes place and foreign policy finally receives some much needed attention.
Former president Bill Clinton will appear on NBC "Meet The Press" and CBS "Face The Nation". He is much in demand by Democrats facing election on November 2, even agreeing to stump for California Governor candidate Jerry Brown in California after Brown had criticized him. Clinton was president when the Newt Gingrich led "Contract with America" led to Republicans winning control in Congress in the 1994 mid term elections. Look to see him offer advise to Democrats.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, back from attending round two of the Israel/Palestine peace talks in Egypt, will appear on ABC "This Week". Joining her on the program is Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Iran just released one of three Americans held captive after illegally entering Iran while on a camping/hiking trip. Let's see if any disclosure will be made by Ahmadinejad on the fate of the other two Americans.
The Israel/Palestine peace talks remain fragile with all eyes on Israel regarding whether they will extend a moratorium on settlements. If not, the peace talks could quickly come to an end. The international sanctions on Iran have not resulted in any outward concessions from Iran in regard to full disclosure of their nuclear development program. Both issues will surely be discussed.
More foreign policy discussion will take place on NBC "Meet The Press" with former secretary of state Colin Powell.
As one would expect, Republican tea party favorite Christine O'Donnell will appear on two shows this Sunday morning. This comes after she was the surprise winner in the Republican Senate primary on Tuesday. Of course, she will be on Fox News Sunday and she will also be a guest on CBS "Face The Nation".
More mid term election discussion is ensured with DNC chair Tim Kaine appearing on CNN "State of The Union". Joining him in the discussion will be Senator Jim DeMint (R-S.C.), former Representative Tom Davis (R-Va.) and former White House Communications Director Anita Dunn.
Look to see the spin on how the impact of tea party candidates will affect the outcome of the elections in November. Some are saying tea party candidates will help Democrats as they are too extreme, while others will say, the success of tea party candidates is an indication that voters are tired of the status quo.
Should be an informative Sunday morning. Plan to tune in.
NBC "Meet The Press" - Bill Clinton, Colin Powell
CBS "Face The Nation" - Bill Clinton, Christine O'Donnell
ABC "This Week" - Hillary Clinton, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
CNN "State of The Union" - Jim DeMint, Tim Kaine, Tom Davis, Anita Dunn
Fox New Sunday - Christine O'Donnell, Karl Rove

Expect the decision by President Barack Obama to personally appeal for Chicago to be the host of the 2016 Olympics to be widely discussed. Did Obama lose credibility or should he have spending more time concentrating on the economy or health care reform will be among the questions asked.
Also sure to be discussed was the Thursday meeting in Geneva with Iran which hopefully will lead to quick inspections by the UN of their nuclear facilities. Look to see the following discussed: What is the U.S. to do in Afghanistan, Middle East peace talks, health care reform nearing the final lap, and will high unemployment result in even more questions surrounding the Obama 800 Billion Stimulus bill.

Remember, to check your local listings for time and channel - Enjoy!
NBC "Meet The Press" - David Gregory snags the headliner of the day as he sits down for the full hour with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. She has just returned to the U.S. after a trip to India and Thailand. Plenty of foreign policy issues to discuss ranging from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars to Iran, the Middle East, North Korea, and Russia.
There were reports out a week ago that Hillary Clinton was upset with the Obama administration with the time being taken on background checks prior to hiring of staff she wanted to bring on board. In addition, rumors have been circulating she was upset because she was not receiving the attention in foreign policy that was being given to the president and vice president. Let's see if David Gregory brings any of this up in his discussion with her.
Also expect her thoughts on the Obama administration efforts for health care reform. She spearheaded the last serious effort at reform during the first term of her husband Bill Clinton. She suffered an embarrassing defeat and certainly knows first hand how tough health care reform is in Congress.
ABC "This Week" - after a week off due to coverage of the British Open, George Stephanopoulos wades into the health care reform debate with Senators Kent Conrad (D-NC) and Jim DeMint (R-SC).
The roundtable discussion will include Donna Brazile, George Will, Paul Krugman, David Brooks and Arriana Huffington.
CBS "Face The Nation" - Bob Schieffer will welcome David Axelrod; White House Senior Adviser, Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-La) and Rep. Jim Cooper (D-Tenn). Let's see if Schieffer brings up the "police acted stupidly" comments made by President Obama pertaining to the arrest of an African-American professor in his own house by a white police sergeant from Cambridge. President Obama has since invited both the professor and the police sergeant to the White House.
Fox News Sunday - Chris Wallace will have as his guest White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs and Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.).
The discussion panel will include Bill Kristol, Brit Hume, Mara Liasson and Juan Williams.
CNN "State of The Union" - John King also has White House Senior Adviser David Axelrod. Joining Axelrod as guests will be House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calf.) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.)
CNN "Fareed Zakaria GPS" - always an informative hour, this week Fareed Zakaria will have a panel with guests Nouriel Roubini, Niall Ferguson and Mort Zukerman who will discuss the current status of the economy. Zakaria is also expected to discuss the current situation in Iran from someone inside the country.

CNN "State of The Union" - John King will also discuss the cost of health care reform with Peter Orzag. The Sotomayor confirmation hearing will be discussed with Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) and the ranking Republican on the committee, Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.). Week in Review and Sunday Morning "Talking Heads" Guests for 5-3-2009
George Wenschhof Bio
Week in Review:
The H1N1 Flu outbreak reached the U.S. and one fatality was reported. The World Health Organization raised the threat level from a 3 to a 5 by the end of the week with a 6 being a full pandemic. Vice President Joe Biden created some angst when he said he would not travel on subways or planes. This statement was quickly reputed by the White House who said their recommendations were to wash your hands frequently, use common sense, stay home if sick and see a doctor if you have flu symptoms.
Chrysler began the week with news they had reached agreement with United Auto worker Union on concessions and were hopeful for the merger with Fiat to be completed. They ended the week by filing for bankruptcy.
Cries for an independent investigation on torture of detainees under the George W. Bush administration continued with Democratic Senators Carl Levin (Mich.) and Pat Leahy (Vt.) leading the way.
President Obama unveiled his housing aid program to help reduce payments on second mortgages.
Congress passed Obama's 3.5 trillion budget blueprint on his 100th day in office. This means of passage also allows the Obama administration through a parliamentary procedure, to avoid a possible filibuster in the Senate when they move to approve the specifics of their health care program. Republicans continued to vote "No", a questionable strategy for future success of their political party.
Obama's 100 day press conference was a hit as he continued to portray confidence and a calm demeanor. He summed up what had been a whirlwind of actions in both the domestic and international political arenas.
The President's Cabinet finally was complete as the Senate voted to confirm Kathleen Sebelius as Secretary of Health and Human Services. On Friday, the president has his first full cabinet meeting at the White House.
Republican Senator Arlen Specter switched political parties and became a Democrat, moving Democrats closer to the magic filibuster proof 60 in the Senate.
The House passed credit cardholder's bill of rights legislation aimed at protecting consumers against unfair and high hidden fees and interest rates. The Senate is expected to pass their version next week, so expect this to become law.
The Federal Reserve delayed releasing their bank stress test results after the banks disagreed with their data and their fear the reports could adversely impact their stockholders.
At the end of the week, Justice David Souter announced he was retiring from the Supreme Court. Appointed by President George H. W. Bush, he has been an ally with the three other liberal justices on the court. This will mark the first Supreme Court nomination by President Obama, who stated he planned to announce his nominee by October of this year. The White House should expect strong lobbying from Women and Hispanic representatives.
While no U.S. ship captains were captured and held for ransom by Pirates and N. Korea did not launch another ballistic missile last week, foreign policy issues remain aplenty. Especially of concern at the present is the stability of the Pakistan government. The nuclear armed country continues to battle Islamic militants.
The Sunday Morning "Talking Heads" and their scheduled Guests are listed below. As always, remember to check your local listings for time and channel.
NBC "Meet The Press" - Host David Gregory focuses on the flu outbreak with Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and Centers for disease and Controls and prevention acting Director Richard Besser. Also appearing is new Democratic Senator Arlen Specter (Pa.).
ABC "This Week" - The H1N1 Flu outbreak continues to get the attention as all three; Janet Napolitano, Kathleen Sebelius and Richard Besser all also appear with George Stephanopoulos. Also appearing are Senators Pat Leahy (D-Vt.) and Orrin Hatch (R-Ut.).
The roundtable discussion will include George Will, Gwen Ifill, Paul Krugman and Gerald Seib.
CBS "Face The Nation" - Sebelius, Napolitano and Besser make it three in a row as they appear with Bob Schieffer. It is evident the Obama administration is working overtime to inform the public on the status of the flu outbreak and the fact the are doing so underscores the seriousness of the flu threat to the health of Americans.
Also appearing, is Democratic Senator Arlen Specter (Pa.)
Fox News Sunday - Chris Wallace makes it the fourth program this morning to have Besser, Napolitano and Sebelius as guests on their show. Also appearing will be senators Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and John Ensign (R-Nev.)
CNN "State of The Union" - John King makes it a clean sweep as Napolitano, Sebelius and Besser appear on his show as well to discuss the flu outbreak.

Sunday Morning "Talking Heads" Guests 4-19-2009
George Wenschhof Bio
The economy and foreign policy continued to be the focus of the Obama administration this past week. President Obama gave a speech at Georgetown University early in the week discussing the current state of the economy. It was well received and he did a good job describing the reasons why the government was spending money at the rate it is and why leading economists feel it is necessary to help get the country out of the severe recession. The Dow Jones closed above 8000 for the second week in a row and closed at 8,131.33.
Meanwhile, the Republicans tried to make hay on April 15 (tax day) as they held coordinated "tea parties" across the country. While they appeared to have good attendance, a CNN/Opinion Research poll indicated 60% of Americans approve of the actions being taken by the Obama administration in regard to the economy and only 24% felt Republicans had a plan to fix the economy. Also raining on their parade is the fact 95% of Americans will be receiving a tax cut from the proposed Obama budget for fiscal year 2010.
Interestingly, not only did the "laizze faire" approach by the George W. Bush administration to the financial sector over eight years fuel the current recession, the national debt and annual deficit spending more than doubled. Expect discussion on this as even the Republican Governor Rick Perry of Texas was trying to woo the right wing nuts with threats of succession from the Union - huh?
On the foreign policy front, President Obama had a very strong and positive moment when he authorized the use of force in freeing the American Captain held captive by Somalian pirates.
Strong signals were also sent to Iran the U.S. was ready to drop the long standing insistence they shut down their nuclear facilities prior to discussions taking place. Over in Pakistan, Envoy Richard Holbrooke indicated the U.S.would be providing 1 billion in aid.
At the end of the week, President Obama met with President Calderon of Mexico to discuss ways to help in battling the drug cartels and how to secure the border. Homeland security Secretary Napolitano announced the hiring of a "border czar".
Obama was then off to Trinidad for the Summit of Americas where global warming, trade and of course, the economy will be discussed. Cuba will be a focus as many want the U.S. to drop the 50 year restrictions that are in place today.
Expect all of the above to be discussed along with the release of White House memos from the George W. Bush administration that provided justification for the use of extreme interrogation techniques.
Below is a list of the morning "Talking Heads" and their scheduled guests. Remember to check your local listings for time and channel.
NBC "Meet The Press" - David Gregory will interview Dr. Lawrence Summers, Director National Economic Council. The roundtable will include Harold Ford, Nina Easton, Dick Armey, Steven Pearstein, and Rick Stengel.
ABC "This Week" - George Stephanopoulos scores big with Rahm Emanuel, White house Chief of Staff. Also appearing will be House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Oh.). The roundtable discussion will include Sam Donaldson, Cokie Roberts, Peggy Noonan, and George Will.
CBS "Face The Nation" - Bob Schieffer has Senior White House Adviser David Axelrod, Governor Ed Rendell (D-Pa.) and Wayne La Pierre, V.P. of the NRA.
Fox News Sunday - Chris Wallace will have CIA Director Michael Hayden along with Senators Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.)
CNN "State of The Union" - John King has Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, NY Governor David Patterson, and Senators Amy Klobucher (D-Mn.) and John Ensign (R-Nev.).

Sunday Morning "Talking Heads" Guests 4-12-2009
George Wenschhof Bio
Discussion this Easter Sunday will be focused on the recently completed European trip by President Barack Obama and the status of the economy.
As to the economy, the Dow Jones closed above 8000 for the second straight week and both the President and his top economic adviser Lawrence Summers offered words of encouragement on the economy last week.
On the foreign policy front, the President last week requested an additional 83 billion from Congress for the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. This is for the remainder of the current fiscal year which ends on September 30. It also includes funds for aid relief for Gaza and funds for Pakistan.
Also, to date, the United Nations has been unable to reach agreement on any sanctions on North Korea after they launched a long range missile last week which failed to make orbit. President Obama has called for sanctions as a previous UN passed resolution forbid North Korea from long range missile tests.
In addition, the capture of a captain of a U.S. merchant vessel by Somalian Pirates has made the rounds in the media and Internet. U.S. military ships are in route as the captain is held captive in a lifeboat with the pirates. Reportedly, other pirates are headed to the area to look for the lifeboat. Express discussion on this situation.
CIA Director Leon Panetta announced the closings of all secret prisons across the world and in the process acknowledged the previous George W. Bush administration had hired contractors to not only guard the prisons, but they were also used to interrogate the prisoners. This was not widely known prior to this admission. Panetta also stated these Contractors had been fired.
Have a Happy Easter Sunday and enjoy the morning "Talking Heads". Remember to check you local listings for time and channel. Below is a list of the scheduled guests.
NBC "Meet The Press" - David Gregory will have a roundtable discussion with Michelle Norris, Robin Wright, Byron York, Jeffrey Goldberg, Alex Bloomberg, and Adam Davidson.
ABC "This Week" - George Stephanopoulos will interview Pastor Rick Warren. Warren held a forum with presidential candidates John McCain (R) and Barack Obama (D) at his mega Saddleback church during the campaign last year. Pastor Warren was also chosen by President-elect Barack Obama to give the invocation as his Inauguration, much to the dismay of many liberal Democrats.
His roundtable discussion will include George Will, Newt Gingrich, Ruth Marcus, and Paul Krugman. If you want to ask George, Pastor Warren or his roundtable guests a question and see if it is asked during the program, click on the "Title" above and enter your question.
CBS "Face The Nation" - Bob Schieffer will interview Mexican Ambassador to the U.S. Arturo Sarukhan. Renewed focus on the Mexican drug war along with Immigration issues are likely discussion topics.
Fox News Sunday - Chris Wallace will have on his show, Senators Evan Bayh (D-Ind.) and Tom Coburn (R-Oak.).
CNN "State of the Union" - John King will interview U.S. General Ray Odierno. President Obama just made a surprise visit to Iraq on his way home from Turkey at the conclusion of his European trip. While in Iraq, the President met with the General. Also appearing on the show will be Iraq national security adviser Mowaffak al-Rubaie.

Sunday Morning "Talking Heads" Guests 3-22-2009
George Wenschhof Bio
Each week further into his first term as president, Barack Obama moves closer to owning the economic crisis facing Americans. The phrase, "this is the economic mess I inherited from the previous Republican George W. Bush administration", is not one that can be used with effectiveness much longer.
While yet to unfold international and domestic issues will help to define President Obama's first term in office, the economy and the Obama administration's efforts to stabilize and improve it will ultimately be how Obama will be remembered by the voters and history.
So, it is not a surprise the guests on Sunday Morning "Talking Heads" will again focus on the economy. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner will not appear which is probably a good thing for the Obama administration. He stumbled badly getting out of the gate when he mangled an attempt to describe changes he was instituting in the second half of the 700 billion bailout bill. Now, it has been disclosed it was him who informed Senator Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) to included the provision in the 787 billion Stimulus bill allowing A.I.G. to pay bonuses. All indications are he is not a good public relations person so do not look for many televised appearances in the near future. Geithner remains the Cabinet member with the highest probability to be removed.
This Sunday morning, Dr. Christina Romer, chair of the White House Council of Economic Advisers will again be the face of the administration when discussing the economy. She had her maiden appearance on NBC "Meet The Press" last week and did ok. Although she did not come across as a rocket scientist, she remained cheerful and did not allow tough questions to rattle her. As a Democratic acquaintance of mine said, she reminded her of a grade school teacher. This is a huge improvement over Geithner so it is no wonder she is back this Sunday. She will appear on "Fox News Sunday" and CNN "State of the Union".
The incredible debt that is being added to the already astronomical national debt will surely receive discussion. The current debt is 11 Trillion and deficit spending the remainder of this year and the proposed 1.75 trillion deficit in the president's first budget will bring the debt to over 14 trillion by the end of fiscal year 2010. We have not added the 1 to 1.2 Trillion the Federal Reserve plans to spend on Treasury and Mortgage Bonds. While interest rates are low, inflation is likely to enter into the picture which will further exacerbate the economic problem.
Below is the list of the Sunday Morning "Talking Heads" with their scheduled guests. Remember to check your local listings for time and channel.
NBC "Meet The Press" - Dick Gregory will interview Governors Ed Rendell (D-Pa.) and Arnold Schwarzenegger (R-Calf.) along with NY City Mayor Michael Bloomberg (Ind.). The three of them met with President Obama on Friday to discuss the Stimulus Bill. Specifically, infrastructure and job creation. The three elected officials have coined a phrase "Building America's Future". Also appearing in a roundtable discussion will be Tom Brokaw and Carol Burnett.
ABC "This Week" - George Stephanopoulos will have Senators Kent Conrad (D-ND) and Susan Collins (R-Maine), Representative Mike Pence (R-Ind.) and Jared Bernstein, the chief economist for Vice President Joe Biden. I often have wondered why Biden needs his own economist - maybe we will find out. The roundtable discussion will include George Will, Donna Brazile, Betsy Stark and Robert Reich.
CBS "Face The Nation" - Bob Schieffer will interview Representative Barney Frank (D-Mass.), Senator Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) and Austan Goolsbee-White House Council of Economic Advisers.
Fox News Sunday - Chris Wallace has Dr. Christina Romer, chair of the WH Council of Economic Advisers, Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL), and Representative Charles Rangel (D-NY).
CNN "State of the Union" - John King also interviews Dr. Romer - let's see is she can maintain that cheerful disposition after two appearances this morning. Also appearing will be Senator Judd Gregg (R-NH). Steve Croft also discusses his interview with President Obama that will appear on CBS "Sixty Minutes" Sunday evening.
