President Obama's long awaited meeting with Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu produces rhetoric but little substance - The president stated the U.S. support for Israel and Netanyahu continued with his position of unconditional talks with Palestine.

Nothing new was said which would help lead to direct peace talks between Israel and Palestine. The NY Times has more here.

Obama administration Sues Arizona over Immigration Law - as expected, the Justice Department filed suit claiming the state law to be unconstitutional, that it conflicts with federal law, it would disrupt immigration enforcement, and it would lead to police harassment of those who had to prove their lawful status.

This is a necessary suit, which will again highlight federal v. state rights. Meanwhile, Congress has refused to take up meaningful comprehensive immigration reform in a mid term election year. The Washington Post has more here.

Independent review clears Climate Panel - hacked emails were used to try to discredit reports on climate change by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. However, after an independent review, the charges were found to have no merit. So much for the naysayers of global warming. BBC News has more here.

Obama to use Bypass Appointment for Donald Berwick - Republicans continue to block appointments of administers to run government agencies so the President is using the 4th of July congressional recess to bypass Senate confirmation.

Berwick will head the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services which oversees programs for 100 million elderly, low-income and disabled Americans. The agency has not had a permanent director since October 2006. You can read more here.
