This morning, President Obama is expected to announcement Rahm Emanuel is leaving -
the White House chief of staff will be running for mayor of Chicago. Peter Rouse, former adviser to Senator Tom Daschle, will be named as his replacement. TheCaucusBlogs.com has more here.

House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) presents his plan to run House -
coming shortly after the less than stellar unveiling of the Republican "Pledge to America". He presents changes including how to handle appropriations bills in the House. TheHill.com has more here.

One has to believe a better strategy for Republicans hoping to retake control of the House in the upcoming mid term elections, would be to keep Representative Boehner silent. The more he speaks, the more voters will want to keep Democrats in control.

Maryland candidates for Governor agree to debate -
finally, after much negotiations, local television station WJZ will tape an interview between Democratic Governor Martin O'Malley and Republican former Governor Robert Ehrlich. It is scheduled for October 11. It will be taped earlier in the day and aired at 7:00 PM.

Denise Koch will moderate and the debate will be sponsored by the Baltimore Jewish Council. The Baltimore Sun has more here.

Israel/Palestine Peace Talks on verge of collapse just weeks after starting -
the major issue is the expiration in Israel of the moratorium of building on the West Bank. This, coming just four weeks after direct talks were finally started between Israel Prime Minister Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority President Abbas. Reuters.com has more here.

A failure in these negotiations would be another blow to the Obama administration and Democrats as the mid term elections near.
