Senator Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) To Step Down - the official announcement indicated the Tea Party leader will resign effect in January to become President of The Hertitage Foundation.  His replacement will be appointed by Governor Nikki Haley (R) and a special election will not be held until the 2014 election.  You can read more here.

Clinton Meets with Russian Foreign Minister as Assad Prepares For Use of Chemical Weapons - in a terrifying move, reports indicate embattled Syrian President has ordered chemical agents loaded into bombs.  This ratchets up the intervention of outside forces, including the United States into the Syriam civil war.  U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov today. Will Puerto Rico Become Next U.S. State? - 61% of Puerto Rican voters in a referendum in the November election said they supported the island becoming the 51st state. 

"Congress should now study the results closely, and provide the people of Puerto Rico with a clear path forward that lays out the means by which Puerto Ricans themselves can determine their own status," White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters this week.   You can read more here.
