President Obama To Speak at Detroit AFL-CIO Rally Today -
the speech will also be a preview of what the president is likely to say on Thursday when he gives his prime time jobs speech. Obama is also expected to tout the success of the government bail out of Chrysler and General Motors which saved thousands of jobs. You can read more here.

Legality of Voter ID Laws Passed By States Questioned -
the requirement for a voter to present a photo identification card has passed in six states with another 28 states considering some type of voter identification requirement to vote.

The U.S. Justice Department will be looking at the laws passed by Texas and South Carolina, defending the 1965 Civil Rights Act. TPM.com has more here.

California Set To Enact DREAM Act -
Governor Brown is expected to sign the legislation which will allow children of undocumented immigrants, who meet certain eligibility criteria, to obtain in-state tuition. You can read more here.

Maryland's version of the DREAM Act will face a voter referendum in the 2012 general election after petitions were filed by dissatisfied voters.

U.S. Postal Service Broke -
seems they will not be able to pay a 5.5 Billion payment this month and will be forced to shut down this winter unless congress coughs up the cash. The impact of electronic communications has severely impacted the U.S. Postal Service. You can read more here.

Chinese Arms Firms Negotiated with Gaddafi Over Summer -
the action did not result in any arms sales and was done, according to an official government release, without the knowledge of the Chinese government.

While, China did not support the U.N. bombing of Libya, they did not exercise their veto power in regard to the resolution which was passed. China has also been slow to release frozen Libyan assets, wanting more detail on the transitional government and how they intend to use the funds. Reuters.com has more here.
