Sunday morning "Talking Heads" Lineup for 9-5-2010

George Wenschhof

This Sunday the guest lineup is somewhat weak. Perhaps, due to the Labor Day weekend.

President Obama is at Camp David trying to come up with a strategy that will help Democrats win in the fast approaching mid term elections. His prime time speech on the end of combat troops in Iraq fell flat with him sounding more like a neocon than the liberal candidate running for president on a pledge to get the U.S. out of Iraq.

Whoever advised the president to use the "Recovery Summer" theme to highlight an uptick in the economy over the summer prior to the mid terms, is now most likely looking for another job. The unemployment figures just ticked up to 9.6% and all signs are now pointing toward a double dip recession.

Democrats are angry President Obama is not fighting harder and louder with the use of the bully pulpit to push the democratic agenda and show how Republicans have been obstructionists without offering any new solutions to the problems facing Americans today.

On Friday, the president will face the press for a televised question and answer session. Let's see what he come up with by then.

Expect Obama's speech on U.S. combat troop withdrawal from Iraq to be discussed this Sunday along with the dismal economy.

NBC "Meet The Press was going to have a debate between Florida Senate candidates; Marco Rubio (R) and Kendrick Meek (D). However, due to illness of Rubio's 84 year old father, this had to be rescheduled. Independent and present Governor Charlie Crist is leading in the polls in this three way race for the senate seat.

The resumption on Thursday of U.S. brokered Peace Talks between Israel and Palestine appears to receive little attention this Sunday.

NBC "Meet The Press" - Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Obama 2008 campaign manager David Plouffe

ABC "This Week" - former Prime Minister of Britain Tony Blair

CBS "Face The Nation" - Laura Tyson, Mark Zandi, Gretchen Morgensen

CNN "State of The Union" - AFL-CIO President Richard Trupka, Small Business Administration President Todd McCracken

Fox News Sunday - DNC Chair Tim Kaine, Senator John McCain (R-Az.)
