This morning, President Obama will give a speech on the economy at UNLV - the struggling economy continues to be troublesome for the Obama administration and Democrats as the mid term elections near.

Vice President Joe Biden will be in California today to lend his support to Senator Barbara Boxer, who is locked in a close battle with Republican Carly Fiorina. A recent poll shows three term Senator Boxer with a narrow 47-44% lead over Fiorina.

Tonight, Biden will appear on NBC "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno".

Obama administration wants answers from BP -
as the BP Gulf oil crisis continues, the U.S. official in charge; Thad Allen, has given BP 24 hours to provide information. What are the efforts being done with skimmers and other boats in the Gulf, will a replacement process of the cap work or result in even more oil gushing into the ocean and where does BP stand in the process to drill the relief wells are just some of the questions. U.S. Appeal Court denies Obama administration request to continue moratorium on deep water oil drilling -
the Interior department and Justice Department had requested the moratorium be allowed to continue until the appeal of a lower court decision had been completed. The request was denied. The NY Times has more here.

RNC chair Steele says he is not resigning - in good news for the Democrats and not so good news for the Republicans. In spite of repeated gaffes, questionable expenses and ineffective leadership, Steele said yesterday, he would not resign as chair of the Republican National Committee. The removal process is onerous, so do not look to see that to happen. TheHill.com has more here.

The more likely scenario will be for him to exit after the mid term elections and prior to the 2012 presidential election.
