First of what promises to be many damning revelations in regard to the catastrophic Gulf coast oil spill reported today by Washington Post -
seems the Interior Department exempted BP's Gulf coast oil drilling operation from a detailed environmental impact study. The Minerals Management Services (MMS) gave BP a "categorical exclusion". You can read more here.

More sad revelations are sure to follow as questions mount as a result of this horrific oil spill.

No big surprises in primary elections held yesterday in North Carolina, Indiana and Ohio -
The Democratic primary U.S. senate race in North Carolina however, resulted in a forthcoming run off election on June 22. None of the three candidates reached a minimum of 40% (a threshold in the state) and now the top two finishers (Secretary of State Elaine Marshall and former state senator Cal Cunningham) will face each other on June 22. For additional results from the primaries held yesterday, TheFix.com has more here.

DSCC spending big to help Specter in Pennsylvania May 18 primary -
as I reported earlier in the week, newly turned Democratic senator, Arlen Specter is leading by only 8 points over Representative Joe Sestak. Democratic leadership promised specter support if he switched to Democrat and now they are providing it in a race against one of their own. the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and the Specter campaign spent $407,000 in ad buys just last week. Hotlineoncall.com has more here.

Look to see this race tighten further in the remaining days to the May 18 primary. Stay Tuned...
