in a speech to be delivered at the Brookings Institute. It is expected he will propose using 200 Billion of unused TARP funds to pay for proposals for highway and bridge construction, energy-efficient homes, and help for small businesses. The Washington Post has more here.

Pay attention to see if any funds are proposed to fund public service employment programs that are sorely needed to help the unemployed.

President Obama frustrated with criticism from Rep. John Conyers (D-NY) -
seems the President called the chair of the House Judiciary Committee recently to let him know. Conyers says he disagrees with the President's decision to send an additional 30,000 troops to Afghanistan and will have more to say on the subject. TheHill.com has more here.

----

Climate Summit underway in Copenhagen -
with the "climategate" email snafu in high gear, differences in opinions on global warming are on full display. Reaching an agreement by the end of next week will not be an easy task. Politico.com has a good read here.

----

Weak "Public Option" compromise put forward in Senate -
private insurers and not the government would provide the coverage available through non profit exchanges with seal of approval from White house Office of Personnel Management. Expect this compromise proposal to pass the Senate. MSNBC.com has more here.
