Today, President Barack Obama delivered his Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech in Oslo -
some has questioned this award, especially in light of his recent escalation of the wars in Afghanistan. The President acknowledged these criticisms while defending the war in Afghanistan as necessary to protect the world against terrorism. The NY Times has more here.

President Obama will also appear on CBS "Sixty Minutes" on Sunday -
he will be interviewed by Steve Kroft.

Federal Debt ceiling to be raised by 1.8 Trillion -
some Happy New Year present for Americans. Democrats will move the bill forward for necessary passage early next week in hopes it will be less of an issue for voters than if they waited until next year. Doubtful this timing will have any positive effect as Republicans are sure to use this against the Democrats in the mid term elections next year. Politico.com has more here.
