Today, President Barack Obama will meet with members of the senate Finance Committee to discuss health care reform - the committee is closer to reaching an agreement that would reduced the total cost of reform by 100 Billion, eliminate the public option and eventually insure up to 94% of Americans. Six of the members of the committee, three Republicans and three Democrats will meet with the president to brief him on the status of the bill. The Washington Post has more here.

Tonight, the president will attend a fundraiser for Democratic candidate for Governor of Virginia Creigh Deeds - Deeds is currently behind the Republican candidate Robert McDonnell.

Sotomayor vote slated for this afternoon in the Senate - her confirmation is expected, largely along party lines. I would guess the vote to be in the high 60's for approval of the supreme court justice nominee.

Also expected to be voted on prior to the recess by the Senate beginning after tomorrow is approval of the additional 2 Billion for the "cash for clunkers" program and a 350 million aid program for dairy farmers. Politico.com has more here.

More details emerge on Bill Clinton's successful trip to North Korea which freed two American journalists - the Washington Post has a fascinating read on the details that lead up to the former President's trip. You can read it here.

Former Rep. William Jefferson found guilty of bribery and money laundering - remember, this is the guy who had close to $100,000 in cash in his freezer. A federal court jury in Alexandria, Virginia found him guilty of 11 of 16 counts. The NY Times has more here.

North Carolina grand jury gets visit from Rielle Hunter - who is she? well, the former mistress of Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards. Her video production company was paid $100,000 by a political action committee set up by Edwards. Stay tuned. Politico.com has more here.
