Dem Campaign Chatter 11-2-2008

George Wenschhof

I am pleased to announce this is the 760th post since I started this website, one year ago. I hope you have enjoyed visiting the site and encourage you to also share this site with your friends and co-workers. Donations are also needed to help keep the site online. --------------------

Today, Barack and Michelle Obama are in Columbus and Cleveland, Ohio - Columbus is a very fun town where Ohio State University is located. I remember from my undergrad days a street called High Street, which was appropriately named. In the closing days of the campaign I have noticed Michelle has been traveling with Barack.

Biden is in Tallahassee and Daytona Beach, Florida. Then off to Cincinnati, Ohio.

--------------------

Senator Clinton helps close for Obama - While the Democratic primary was a hotly contested close race, Senator Clinton has done an outstanding job supporting Obama. From her excellent speech at the Democratic Convention on, she has campaigned vigorously on behalf of Obama. Today, she is in Fairfax, Virginia. She also has a op-ed in the New York Daily News today supporting Obama. You can read it here.

--------------------

Obama 50.4%, McCain 43.7% - is the average of 11 national polls reported by RealClearPolitics.com These polls were taken from 10-28 to 11-1-2008. You can read more details here.

--------------------

How will the remaining undecides vote? - In my electoral vote update posted earlier today, I pointed out the possibility of a close race depending on how a handful of states vote. These states are Florida, N. Carolina, Virginia and Ohio which are all still polling within the margin of error. If McCain runs the table and wins all four, this race becomes very close with results from Missouri, Indiana, Colorado and Nevada determining the victor. If McCain would pull an upset and come back and win Pennsylvania in addition to the first four east coast states I listed, in all probablity, he wins the election. Will the undecideds have an impact on the election? The NY Times has a a column on the "undecideds" here.

--------------------

McCain joins Tina Fey on SNL - last night continued their hillarious spoofs of this election. The opening skit was a play off of the QVC channel with John McCain explaining he could not afford a 30 minute commercial like Obama just ran on the major TV networks. Tina Fey was of course, Governor Palin and Cindy McCain had a cameo appearance. If you missed it, you can watch it here.

--------------------

Palin provides another skit for SNL - Yesterday, in what will surely appear in a skit on Saturday Night Live, Governor Palin spoke for several minutes to two Canandian comedians pretending to be French President Sarkozy. She was not immediately aware of the impersonations by Sebastian Trudel and Marc-Antoine Audette who talked with her about going hunting together. You can read more here. You can listen to the call here.
