Sunday Morning "Talking Heads" 8-10-2008

George Wenschhof

Expect a lot of talk about the admission by former Senator John Edwards of a extramarital affair. Also sure to be discussed is the Olympics in Beijing, China. As the Republican and Democratic national conventions near, more talk about the VP choices of the candidates will surely occur. The republic of Georgia and Russia conflict will receive attention as well. With the Dow continuing it's up and down daily showing, the dismal economy should also be examined.

ABC "This Week" - Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal will be a guest - he is rumored to be on McCain's VP short list. Don't bet on it. He is only 37 and was just elected Governor last October. He is bright and comes across well on TV - a good combination for the media.

Also appearing is New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson who would make an excellent Vice President candidate with Obama. He has administrative executive experience, international experience and served in President Clinton's cabinet.

CBS "Face the Nation" - Virginia Governor Tim Kaine also known to be on the Obama short list for VP. Virginia is now considered a swing state so some pundits consider Kaine a serious contender for the position. I wouldn't count on it.

Also appearing is Republican strategist Karl Rove. Let's see what dirty tricks he puts forward as he tries to frame the Democratic message in a negative manner. Will it be more of the painting of Obama as a celebrity or will it be "is Obama ready to lead on day one"?

NBC "Meet the Press" - The guest is Secretary of the Treasury Henry Paulson. He has only been on the job since June of 2006. Let's see what he has to say about the failed economic policies of the Bush administration.

Fox News Sunday - McCain campaign manager Rick Davis will be a guest along with Illinois Senator Richard Durbin, the Democratic Majority Whip.

CNN "Late Edition" - T. Boone Pickens will be a guest. A former big oil man, he now is spending millions promoting his plan for wind power and weaning the U.S. from it's dependency on foreign oil. Also Pennsylania Governor Ed Rendell will appear who was a big Hillary Clinton supporter.
